Community Work

Street Level has two sub-areas within the Community work:

Youth Group

The Youth Group is open to young people within Hackney and Islington.

It aims to provide an enjoyable, fun, safe and engaging environment to young people, who don't have much to do at home after the school, preventing them from joining gangs or hanging out around the streets where there is a risk of developing anti-social behaviour.

The Youth Group also gives them the opportunity to experience different activities, which they couldn't normally afford and that brings an inspiration to their future, the possibility to discover new skills and the confidence in their own capabilities. Youth Group opens every Wednesday (term time) at 5.30 pm

What our Youth Group participants have said:

"Knowledge is the food of the soul" Plato

"I have been practicing the cooking I learnt at home with my mum"

"I love everything in the Youth Group don’t change anything"

"I feel better at making new friends and positive of my future"

Detached Work

After identifying that, there are still a number of young people in the boroughs who, for different reasons, do not participate in any activities involving community groups or after school clubs, Street Level created a partnership with Skyway Charity to tackle this situation.

Street Level builds relationships with disengaged young people and focuses on their engagement in the creation of better opportunities for their lives and the development of positive changes in their relationships with the community and among themselves.
